The Listening Tool

Jen Bowmast, The Listening Tool, 2019, Paru/Clay, 50 x 50 x 800mm

“Work with the knowledge of the paru, clay. Water is a need in this work of clay. Whenua… work with the elements.”  Jayne, April 2019

This work is part of a series that begins with a message from Ōtautahi medium Jayne recorded and sent to me via a social media platform. This artefact is offered as a transitional object between one place and another, reflecting the moment of exchange between myself and the reader. The clay listens with a willingness to be transformed.
